Why Being a Jack-of-All-Trades Might Just Make You a Master of Success

People often say, “Jack of all trades, master of none.”But I’ve learned through my own journey that versatility when guided by purpose can be the foundation of true success.
My 29-year journey with Chevron Corporation taught me to navigate across worlds: sales, marketing, retail, operations, innovations, and customer experience. Each role was a new lens, a different way to see how business, people, and impact intertwine. Those years built not just skills, but adaptability, the quiet strength that allows me to grow through change.
Today, as I lead AI-driven and ESG-focused ventures under Roxas Management Consultancy and Roxas SaaS Corporation of the Roxas Meta Group, I carry that same philosophy. Every project is about bridging innovation with sustainability proving that technology and conscience can coexist, and even thrive together.
In my Harely Owners Group (H..O.G.) Philippines - Regional Director role, I see the same truth mirrored in community. Riders from different walks of life, united by passion and purpose, reminding me that leadership is not about control, it’s about connection.
And as a proud President of the University of Santo Tomas (UST) Economics Alumni Association Inc., I’ve made it our advocacy to help position UST as a center of excellence in sustainability and ESG, inspiring the next generation of Thomasians to see economics not just as numbers, but as a tool for nation-building and long-term impact.
So perhaps the saying deserves its full form: A jack of all trades is a master of none but oftentimes better than a master of one.
Because success, at its core, is not about mastering one craft, it’s about mastering yourself through the many paths you take.
