The Most Expensive Sentence in Philippine Boardrooms

The most expensive sentence in Philippine boardrooms this year will be: "We'll deal with sustainability reporting next year. "With Memorandum Circular No. 16, the SEC has made PFRS S1 and S2, Tier 1 companies are already inside their first reporting period. And two years after each tier's adoption, independent limited assurance over Scope 1 and 2 emissions becomes compulsory.

Here is what I keep seeing in my conversations with boards: the challenge is rarely willingness. It is readiness. Sustainability data scattered across spreadsheets. GHG accounting capability that doesn't yet exist in-house. Disclosures that must now survive the same scrutiny as the financial statements.

The companies that will file with confidence in 2027 are the ones building three things today: a governance structure that owns the disclosure, a technology backbone that makes the data audit-ready, and an assurance pathway tested before the regulator requires it.

This is why we built an integrated pathway at RXS Meta Group rather than another advisory engagement. Our managed services run the program end to end. Our partnership with ECO-OS puts an AI-powered sustainability platform behind the data. AI consolidating, automating carbon accounting, and generating audit-ready disclosures aligned with ISSB frameworks. And with SGS, the world's leading testing, inspection and certification company, clients build ESG literacy from the board down and walk into limited assurance prepared, not exposed.

Strategy. Technology. Assurance. One accountable partner instead of three disconnected vendors. The companies that begin now will file with confidence. The rest will file with caveats.

Where does your board stand, deadline, or discipline?
